Shoujo Kakumei Utena

.MAMIYA. pretty much a male version of Anthy. Seemingly quiet, reserved and in need of protection. But don't be fooled.

.MIKAGE. Male version of Utena. But he's a little less innocent and pure. He always seems to be up to something.

I always found these two really odd from the start. It's their mannerisms, the way they talk to each other or look at each other.

POINT 1
Mikage, his demeanor, body language his pink hair, all scream yaoi. Furthermore, he often refers to Mamiya to a girl in some way Why?
Mikage: Then you'll become the rose bride.
Mamiya: Bride? Don't you mean rose prince? I'm a boy!
Mikage: Well bride just seems to suit you better.

POINT 2
At one point on the show Mamiya and Mikage are growing black roses. Mamiya pricks his finger on a thorn. Then Mikage says:
Mikage: ah..you've hurt yourself (he sucks the blood from Mamiya's finger)
Mikage: You did it on purpose didn't you?
Mamiya:....(smiles)

POINT 3
Mikage is generally affectionate towards Mamiya. Mamiya in turn likes the attention very much. I suppose in this "relationship" Mamiya would be the uke and Mikage the seme. They always so intimate in the official pictures. They're way too close to be just good, innocent school friends to me. In the last pic, Mikage is giving Mamiya a downright ravenous look. I wonder of he's even listening to what Mamiya is saying at all?

POINT 4
Both Mamiya and Mikage together are parallels to Utena and Anshi, whose heterosexuality is also questionable. Mikage to Utena and Mamiya to Anshi. Mikage/Utena seems to be the agressors in the relationships and Anshi/Mamiya the "submissive ones."
